question is, how would you guys do it better (i ask this before i start drilling and stuff) We got a 3/4" barb with a steel wiring washer OUTSIDE the tank, two rubber gaskets, and then a plastic wire nut on the inside of the tank.

I used a similar bulkhead to that one and it leaked on and off.. example, one day it would leak a few and then not leak for weeks, then do it again for a week or so.. I got a real bulkhead online and it never leaked again.. good luck..

I'd go with a bulk head. Even one for a boat would work in a pinch.

    Definitely go with a bulkhead.

Our LFS has then in stock. Hopefully yours does too, otherwise the internet will have them all over the place.

BRS has a whole boat load of plumbing part and bulkheads. WHY DOES HOME DEPOT NOT SELL PLASTIC BULKHEADS?! I never understood that.. try BRS tho.

and i could be wrong on this but IME having a rubber gasket on both sides may result in having a small drip leak because theres not enough pressure (tightness) applied to the gasket on the side with water. idk if i wrote that well.. make sense? i tried having a gasket on both sides once and it didnt work as well as when i just used one..
