So have you ever fed your tang red lettuce? Or any other type of lettuce other than romaine? I know that there is no nutritonal value in iceburg, so that is out, but there are so many others...and well, I was wondering.

Better off feeding Nori, one or more of the various algae dried sheets of algae, spirulina and vegetable flake foods or other sea weed foodstuff. Don't really know how beneficial lettuce grown on lad is, plus with all the pesticides etc. used in the soil and actually sprayed on the vegetables, I wouldn't chance it.

Mine I feed spirulina algae flakes with frozen brime one day and then the next I give them Julian Sprung's purple seaweed plus some pellet food. The rest of the time I make them earn their keep and pick at the rock for food. ;D

I agrre with all of the above. You can get Nori sheets cheap at an Asian market. I got 50 sheets for $6. Just look at the ingredients and make sure there are no spices or oil added. You just want dried nori.

I feed my tang dried seaweed also, along with flake food, pellet food and occasionally frozen mysis. I ask this because I remember seeing the caretakers at the AofLB feeding lettuce to the fish. This is also done at Sea World and Rain Forest Cafe. I have heard they use organic and blanche it in some hot water first. I was eating a salad and I could swear my tang was watching me drooling, so I thought, hum?...
