Well, unfortunatelly this story did not end on a happy note.

While first week everything was fine, during the second week i noticed more and more aggression towards the lil guy from the ole lady. Then I saw her dart at him clear across the 48" long tank and take a big bite out of his fin.

Had to return the poor fella. LFS was kind enough to take him back and offer me full credit given he pulls through. He looks totally fine and his fin should regrow.

    :( Sad panda.

    Yup,

My established female never let one live past a day so you fared better then me.

Unfortunately I was never able to pair her again and did eventually trade her in for another clown fish pair.

Great fish, but so aggressive towards other clowns, especially in smaller tanks.

You learn every day in this hobby. Kind of wish LFS told me year+ ago that i should consider getting a pair to being with. Now I am so attached to this one, i just doubt i could ever trade her in.

Oh well, new 110g tank has shipped and will be here next week. Few month from now I'll be getting a new mated pair of maroon clowns.

Why don't you try to introduce the established female and a juvenile into the large tank at the same time. The female will be so busy checking everything out she may allow a new clown at that point.

If you keep the existing tank up and or sump than if there is issues you can put the aggressive female in either tank and let the juvenile have a day or two to acclimate. Or put a breeder box in the new tank with the aggressive female in the box. Let the new maroon have a few days to it's self and the female time to get used to it.

man....I thought you had succeeded reading through your thread and was very happy for you! It's a shame it turned out that way but Corailline's advice is the best in terms of if you wanted to add them to your new tank. I love maroons....it's one of those fish that unfortunately is so pretty but can be so aggressive :(....SS is very lucky his maroons have decided to all get along! Sometimes we do get lucky in this hobby - there can be a wide variation with each individual fish.
