camel shrimp?

Has anyone heard of a camel shrimp? An"experienced" reefer told me that they are a must. I was wondering if he meant a cleaner shrimp. Are they a good item to have?

 

camel shrimp are not reef safe. he prolly meant either cleaner or peppermint shrimp.

 

Thanks, that's what I thought.. I just have the tank set up and I hate to have it destroyed by a "evil doer"!!

 

Ditto, not reef safe...

Opportunistic eaters...will go after other microfauna, and corals if does not get enough to eat.

Snowflake eel grabbed one and drug into hole before shrimp had chance to hit bottom when I first added a pair...Other disappeared couple of days later. (really not all that bad of a thing once I learned camelback's nasty eating habits...

Odd,

one, because the shrimp was so large compared to little eel.

two, first time I ever had actually seen the eel eat.

three, eel has no appetite for other shrimp in tank. CB, Skunk, Bloods...all are doing well....But eel will just ballistic if you drop in some freeze dried shrimp.
Can smell it just after they hit surface...Eel is promptly out of wherever it is hiding and goes crazy all over tank, looking for bits of that dried shrimp...:-/

 

he means camelback shrimp.

and he probably meant peppermint shrimp are good to have they eat aptasia
