    Great seagull picture, Camilsky! And that's a beast of a camera!

    Well, I'm a little out of that range, but I'm hoping to get the cannon SX10-IS...It will be my first real camera...other than these little fuji finepix and kodak easy shares that I have been using. I was looking at the Rebel, but it seems to be more for the pro? I'm not sure if I want to get into the removable lenses and such. I have done alot of looking into the cannon power shots...they seem like a quality product. Glad this thread is up, because I will be buying soon....input. The available selections are mind bending...
    Lets here some more camera stuff !!

    My Canon PowerShot has been great. It's small and goes right in a pocket. I've gotten some pretty good action shots with it, too. Justin (my son on this forum) runs track and is a pole vaulter and another son runs cross country - I have probably hundreds of shots from their events!

    Hey! If I were you I would try to get second hand Canon 450D and one of these (also second hand):
    -> Sigma 24-70 EX DG APO f2.8
    or
    -> Tamron 17-40 f2.8
    Both are great lenses that will beat any Point-Shoot Digitial Camera in that price range! I took at least 10k shots of tanks/fish/corals, for friends and also some LFS. For tank shots you need fast and accurate auto focus, sharp and bright lenses, adjustable focal length! Point-shots can't deliver these qualities in one package! Trust me :) I'm almost a doctor ;)

    I use a Nikon D70S and love it. I use Nikon Nikkor lenses with it. It's way more of a camera than I will ever be a photographer ;) I like it, easy to use, and I always get good comments on my photo's in my thread.

    Me and the wife got a nikon d60 at best buy last week for 549.00 with a nikkor lens. Its a great camera. I also have a d80 and the new d60 is a darn good buy. I had a rebel but it go busted in florida on vacation. I liked the rebel but though we would give the d60 a go for the pics we take at work.
