    If you don't plan on going with a DSLR then the SX10-IS is the next best thing and a Great Camera. I've been selling cameras for years and this series of cannon cameras has been a great seller for it's picture quality, zoom lens with IS and Macro Mode.
    My Nana bought the previous version to the SX10-IS and loves it, she shoots lots of Nature shots. However I haven't tried shooting tank pics with it myself.
