You must be a spy with that bad boy camera, or just want to take pics of the space station. Great looking tank.

    Thanks for your responses friends!

Hey! Doog! First of all, please read the following article: Advanced Aquarist's Online Magazine - Feature Article: The Successful Aquarium Culture of Goniopora Species
It should help you with identification of your specimen, and provide detailed info about light/flow/feeding requirement. Moreover, please refer to the source papers cited by the author of this article. You will learn from them that Goniopora thrives in nutrient rich/shallow waters. Consequently, one of the very important requirements is feeding! My Goniopora has been grown from a 2" frag, it's actually 2 years old and now it's around 12-13" in diameter!. I have placed it in my tank 1.5 months ago! As you have probably read from my posts, I do skim my water quite intensively! Moreover, I run very efficient nitrate reactor. My water is definitely not nutrient rich (as defined by nitrate/phosphate content)! Moreover, my tank is simply to young to have natural population of a quality zooplankton.
To compensate for almost sterile water conditions I'm dosing Trace Elements and Reef Plus (by Seachem) (aminoacids + vitamin extracts) two times per week (it's fully automated). On top of that, my Goniopora stokesi is fed after MH go off with ~5ml of high quality frozen cyclops! I also want to mention very important requirement -> stable levels of Ca/Mg/Trace elements. I've developed this feeding/nutrition protocol after numerous discussions with friend from LFS who has been far more than successful with Goniopora stokesi. He has got like 4 simply gargatuan specimens (at least 15" in diameter)!

Thanks nox! Pimping lights in Sera 130 is a must! 2x24PC are only enough for some bottom dwelling soft corals.

Hehehehe! I do love photography! I'm also a freelancer for local university newspaper :)

UPDATE (SAD): I've lost 4 fish! 2x Clown Fish, Royal Gramma and Yellowtail Blwenny :( It's my fault. My dosing system, dosed 4ml of ethanol before midnight, but my skimmer failed. I got a typical cloudy water indicating bacteria bloom! I've cleaned all components and restarted skimmer! What a terrible day!

Sorry to hear that Camilsky. :(
You had it going on! You will have it again!
How did your skimmer fail? Did your pump jam from calcium buildup?

Thanks Matt! I wanted to be mr smart guy and made everything automatic. My DIY aquatic computer failed. It dosed ethanol, and for some totally stupid reason turned off my skimmer. I feel really bad! I've lost the most amusing/cunning fish in my tank!!!! :(

I was almost convinced it's an easy and straightforward method to populate my nitrate reactor with bacteria. Well, it turned out it was easy but super dangerous!! Lesson learned!

    Sorry about the loss. :(

When I get too gung ho with reef equipment I have to remind myself of the K.I.S.S.(Keep It Simple Stupid) system. Although tons of gadgets can make the day to day tasks easier, there is bound to be a failure at some point. I now only automate systems that wont do irreversible damage in short periods of time.
