It's been two days now and it still hasn't dissolved. Not only is the salt not dissolving, but now, even with the flow off, there are a bunch of stagnant microparticles just sitting there in the water column. I contacted Instant Ocean, and they were more than willing to send me another bag of Reef Crystals. It will be here in 7-10 days. Should I start draining some of the the water out, or should I wait until the salt gets here to see if it clears up?

I've only put in a little bit of salt, so it's sitting at 1.014.

I might try to siphon out the excess and add in more salt after I mixed the salt container really well to try to bring it up to the salinity you want. That's me of course, not well known for my patience.

I guess I'll try that. I also have a small, unopened box of Reef Crystals from MACNA, so I'll use that for now.

    About to go crazy

So I went out and bought 15 gallons of fresh RO/DI. I put 5 gallons in the tank and added salt from a sealed bag of Reef Crystals and I'm seeing the SAME. THING. HAPPENING. AGAIN. Not sure what I should do at this point. It's driving me crazy since I finally have everything I need for this tank to run, but the only thing that's holding me back is the salt.

I just tried with Fluval Sea Salt and it dissolved in less than 5 minutes, so maybe I'm just not having luck with Reef Crystals?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Cam you need to google "residue with reef crystal" this is not uncommon and there is plenty of information about it on the net. In my experience the residue is not harmful just ugly. Hunter once posted it was a binding agent I believe, could be wrong but double check with him.
