Yeah I did some research and that looks like that's it. Should I siphon the salt out or leave it?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    I would leave it.

Start with a cuc which I am sure you are already going to do. If you have received a bad product the cuc will let you know.

The residue should not affect the cycle so in the worse scenario all you will have to do replace the water and the tank will still be cycled.

Okay well I'll add the good salt and I'll start the cycle tomorrow. Thanks for your help!

I checked on my tank this morning to see that the salt that I added was beginning to dissolve. I let it completely dissolve, but the tank is still cloudy with something. At first I thought microbubbles, but I'm really not sure how that would be possible, since there aren't and microbubbles going to the return. I added my rock sculpture and added some Microbacter7 and a pinch of flake food. Let the cycle begin!

After closer inspection, I'm actually pretty sure the particles ARE microbubbles, as I am seeing some bubbles going through the baffles and to the return. It kinda bugs me, since I built the baffles to avoid that exact problem. Any ideas to stop it from happening?.

Hey Cam, we had the same problem last weekend. I thought I was seeing sand flying around, but it turned out to be microbubbles. My son stuck one of those big flat sponge things down in the baffles and the microbubbles went away right away. We're going to try a filter sock instead over the line draining into the sump because I don't like the idea of a sponge in the baffles long term. Good luck!
