Okay thanks. Also, I'm trying to figure out how many chambers I should have. I was going to get a BRS dual media reactor, but I'm not sure if it would fit if the sump had a chamber for a refugium. Should I just not worry about the reactor and do 3 chambers?

What size is the sump again?

10 gallons. It's the only size that will fit in the stand.

Having a fuge in that small of sump IMO wouldn't benefit your system at all. I would run with a Sock and Skimmer section then a baffle or two then the return section. Just my .02

Alright. And what sizes should each section be? I would imagine the skimmer section would be larger?

Depends on your skimmer and if you want to add reactors/pumps in that section too. Just depends on the size of equipment your using. It's personal preference. But once you start to mess around with the idea you will know how big they need to be. Plus mess around with some cardboard cutouts as a mockup.

Yeah I'll be using the PLS-100 that you're using and possibly the dual reactor. And I'll try the cardboard cutouts. Thanks again for all of your help!

    Agree.

Yes, but as N00ZE has pointed out, the size of your equipment matters to some degree. You need to make sure the skimmer fits in its chamber, and the return pump fits in the other side. :) The other point to consider is the return chamber is where you'll see the water line drop due to evaporation, so don't make this chamber too small (ie - just big enough for the pump). Give yourself enough room in the skimmer chamber for the skimmer and a enough wiggle room to get it out easily, but there's no need to make it any larger than that.

So since the skimmer has a footprint of 4.75" x 4.75", I would give that section around 7" of space. And then have a few baffles going to the return section. Then I would have a return section that would be 11.5" after the baffles. And how tall should the baffles be? I was thinking 8".

Baffle height depends on the skimmer. Most seem to like the 8-10" range. Which skimmer where you looking at?
