Well my parents want to get rid of the 52 gallon because of how scrathched up it is, so I don't think that'll work :-/ Is there a way to get the scratches out?

Polishing yeah, but thats a pretty big undertaking from what I understand. Ive never done it before, but I have seen tanks that were pretty bad with scratches look decent after getting polished properly by a professional. Does the stand to the 52 gallon have a wood top? Or is it designed specifically for the 52 gallon? It looks like a nice stand by the way.

It does seem like a lot to do to polish it.

The stand does have a wood top. And thanks, the whole setup was given to me by my cousin.

I probably won't do a complete restart. I'll just change out some of the rocks. I'm not sure about the sand, though. It's filled with a bunch of different types of algae.

If you can I would change the sand. I just changed most of the sand in my 30 gallon and changed sumps. Doing this for the first time ever brought PO4 levels down to where I want to be. 10PPB!

I'll definitely change out the sand then. I'm confused as to how I should change out the rocks without Caulerpa growing onto the new rocks, though

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Buy some rock and cycle it in a separate container, it will need some flow. Let it cycle for about for a couple weeks, ghost feed it a little from time to time. Maybe add some Dr.Tims or MB7 to get things kick started.

Once the rock is cycled, take a large plastic container and siphon enough water to cover corals. Add corals and livestock and siphon out the rest of the water and remove the rocks. Add some flow.

Remove the sand via a bowl or scoop completely. Add fresh water and siphon out the remaining traces of detritus and sand and repeat until clean.

Rinse aragonite sand until clear prior to starting this daunting exercise.

Add sand then rocks then water then corals and then fish.

Keep some Prime on hand and freshly made up SW. Do not over feed and monitor for a mini cycle.

If you do not have enough money to buy enough dry rock, then get as much as you can and cycle that and then recycle your old rock after you have nuked it.

This is what I did for majano.

Thanks so much for clearing this up! I'll probably get some BRS reef saver rock and cycle that. How slowly should I start adding everything back?

This'll definitely take up most of my weekend

Thanks. I actually may bleach and cycle some of the rock from the 52 gallon and put it in the 29. Then I'll get rid of the current rock after the cycle's over.
