I would really add some more supports to the legs if you could and reorient the top and base so that the 2x4's are parallel with the supports. The can support the weight of the tank better this way. This wont be a ridiculously heavy tank, but Id plan for the stand to support over 400lbs if you. These are the plans that I drew up for my 30 gallon stand if you would like to get a better idea of what Im talking about.

Nick not gonna lie, thats a recipie for a wet floor. The 2x4's should vertically support the top rim on the bottom rim.

I think I get what you are saying but I dont understand why that would be a problem. Could you clarify please? Ive built 5 or 6 stands this way and have never had any problems with a wet floor. Never had any problems with the stand at all actually, but I dont want to give Cam bad advice if my design is flawed. lol

The stand is definitely not done yet. I'm going to add a support to the back and add braces on the sides, then add one inch plywood to all of the sides except the back.

all the weight of the tank sit on that outside rim and is only held up by screws, which alot of the time may be ok, but if the 2x4s are under the rim you will not have failure.

Ah yes you are correct. I built my 30 gallon stand like the plan I posted and in hindsight I wish I would have done it differently. The stands I have built after the 30 have been done the way you posted though. For the weight its supporting it works no problem but anything bigger than a 55 Id build your way. It would actually be pretty easy to reconfigure your stand like this Cam.

That reminds me, I need to rebuild my 125's stand!

I was trying to wait and do a simpier stand for it and use it as a basement sump
    for the 180RR I plan/wish to get.

I figured why not? I'm sure it'll help with support as well :D

I could definitely add some support like ingtar said. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
