I'm by no means an expert, but I wonder sometimes if a given coral will just not grow in a certain tank. I have great growth on my duncan, acan, fungia, and nepthea, but I can't get my candy cane to split for nothing. It seems like every other post people are talking about their candy canes splitting. Mine is being stubborn about it.

I guess just keep trying and hopefully it will come around. :)

I think you're right. Before the crash, I tried GSP and Kenya Trees, and even they wouldn't grow! I haven't tried them since. I'm scared they will take over the tank :) My Cyphastrea is growing extremely fast for what I thought it would do, though. The Duncan just doesn't want to grow, but I'm not worried about it. As long as it looks and acts healthy :)

I wish you the best of luck with the Candy Cane :)

I have had good growth in both corals by target feeding a nice seafood slurry,

If you have a chance to get a Pocillopora and want one of the easiest sps I would, fast grower, forgiving of less than ideal tank parameters, easy to frag.

Would they eat Mysis? I have a lot of that and Spirulina enriched Brine Shrimp left over from when I had fish.

I actually picked up a Pocillopora frag about a week ago. If the pics are working, there should be a pic of it a page or two back :)

Yes Mysid will work. Any frozen food that has meat, mixed with some decent pellets should work well. Duncans grow much faster when feed and usually they are an enthusiastic eater.

I was actually going to ask you if you were target feeding it. This may help explain the lack of growth. I target feed with Mysis every other day, and as mentioned, is growing very fast! Same thing with my Candy Cane, which started as two heads, and has now split into 6 :)

I used to target feed, but stopped when I had GHA covering everything. I'll start again, now that everything's under control :)

I promised myself no more Hermit Crabs, but the store owner gave one to my brother, and he really wanted it, so I couldn't say no :)

I would love an ID for this Mushroom. I think it looks really cool :)

One of the rocks that I bought the mushrooms on has a bunch of these, and I also think I see a Micro Brittle Star.

This is the rock that they're on

And of course, something bad needed to show up. I'm pretty sure I have a few Colonial Hydroids :( How do I get rid of them?
