How did you accomplish this. Did you just dump the whole tank into a test tube to do the test?

The tank definitely had enough for the tests (it would probably take about 20 test tubes to empty the tank), but I emptied most of the tank for the hydrometer :)

You need to get a Refractometer asap!!!!!! With such a small water volume you want to have the most accurate testing equipment available.

*sigh* I'll start saving up again ::)

There's already so much that I'm spending right now (restocking 29 gallon, MACNA, CoralCon, ReptiCon). I never have any spare chash anymore  Do you know where I could work at 15 years old? I feel like I need a job with all of this.

A refractometer is a must though; get one ASAP and don't go into the LFS until you have one ;)

And make sure it is ATC (Auto Temp Correction).

I have friends that keep tanks without refractometers and cant understand how they do it. its not even that they dont have the money. I think you can get one from BRS for around 40-50 bucks. thats what i have.

The reason why is a new ten dollar swing arm doesn't give wild readings, they are consistent, they just might be a little high or low but within acceptable ranges. I'll never buy a refract, they are optional.

Marine tanks lived through the 90s and 2000s just fine before refracts were big. No matter how many testimonies we are about to read about wild swing arms, that actually won't happen to you its just something posted online. In actuality, a swing arm will be fine. Mine is ten years old, calibrated to lfs refract it reads .023 and the refract reads .024, both are acceptable for reefing

Nice wine glass reef i too have wondered about heating it!
