Can a sump be quiet?

LOL...I think I am going to remove the towel...

 

Im tellin ya... its the reason i didnt buy a quieter "better" skimmer last week.

She has to come all the way down stairs to tell me to do something... easier to just do it herself! Haha

i use a mag 5 return pump for my eshopps 300 overflow. of course you can hear the pump but it is not loud my tank is in my bedroom. the mags are nice they operate with low wattage/dont heat your water and they are quiet.

 

I would suggest using some sort of gurgle buster to combat any noises made from the water entering the sump.

You can make these out of PVC pipe and attach it to the outlet into the sump. That will also keep microbubbles at bay as well.

 

good call, first time i set everything up it was very loud. made the gurgle buster last weekend. it worked great although i only have one drain with one. (i sanded to much of the coupling on the other one so i have to make another this weekend). i havent even adjusted it yet and its an amazing difference
