Can I use silicone from home depot or the like in my aquarium? Or is there a difference in aquarium silicone?

Make sure you get 100% pure silicone that does not have ageacides or fungicides which are bad news for your tank!

I went to Home Depot, the Label said 100% silicone on the GE silicon II, but the back said NOT FOR AQUARIUMS,.....the GE silicone I also said, 100 % silicone but did not specifically exclude aquariums on its label. My conclusion was that NEITHER was probably 100% silicone but more like maybe 99% plus 1% unknown,.....I just spent the extra 2 dollars and got the Dap Aquarium sealant that they had!

Thanks for the Heads up on this :D

    Birdlady ( Not Cindy ) ;) ;D
I have used GE silicone I & 2 many times, When I first got into this hobby years ago I made my own tank and I used GE silicone to assemble it and I had no problems at all. IMO the only reason they say not for aquarium use is the same reason Southdown tropical play sand does, So they can sell you another product that is the same thing for more money that says it "is" recommended for Aquarium use. 100% Silicone is just that 100% Silicone so how can one be different from the other? ;)

So If you need to buy more don't hesitate to use it, it is just fine for aquariums GE-Silicone 1 is usually cheaper than 2 but it works just as well IMO ;) ;D................................... John
