can anyone id this coral and what is growing on it

    Hey i was wondering if anyone knows the name of this coral. I was also wondering what kind of alage is growing on it and how to get rid of the alage

    The algae looks like cyano or red slime to me, but wait for others to chime n.

    Not sure what kind of coral but love the color. Is that coraline algae? Not sure but someone can help you

    Def looks like cyano bacteria. Def wanna knip that in the butt before she takes over the tank. as for the coral im not sure

    +1 orange sponge with cyano on it.
    Need to get the cyano under control.
    The sponge doesnt look that healthy either. How long have you had it? Looks like it was exposed to air when added to the tank A lot of sponges will die off slowly over a couple weeks when they are exposed to air resulting in the white holey areas that you see. This is one thing that you add to the tank that you have to disregard all rules. Normally we are not supposed to add the store water into our system, however with sponges you need to place the bag under water in your tank and remove the sponge to keep air from hitting the sponge.

    How frequently are you adding live phyto. That sponge is a non-photosynthetic coral and will not get any nutrients from lights. You need to add phyto a couple times a week to keep it alive.

    the other possibilty for the white strip is that something is eating it. What type of fish do you have in your tank

    Looks like cyno for sure. Neat sponge or what ever it is growing on though.
