Hi i was given this coral last weekend.
It seems to be healthy and fully opened.

Can anyone tell me the name and type of coral this is, and also any requirements for keeping it healthy i.e. lighting needs, feeding etc...?

Looks like a Goniopora, sp. to me.

Pretty hard to care for - requires perfect water and a lot of feeding - cyclops, oyster eggs - rotifers - phyto.

yes i was under the same impression, most goniopora are found in calm lagoons with high nutrient loads ie high nitrates. so basically a dirty tank for better lack of an explanation

High nitrates, detectable phosphates, lots of dissolved organics (i.e. skimmerless system).....much like an elegance coral.

An LFS is extremely likely just going to sell it to another person who can't take care of it.

I would see it online to someone who can take care of it, if possible.
