Hi - I've spotted a few of these things growing in my tank all of a sudden. Not sure if they're a polyp or anemone and whether they're a problem I should be tackling.

Any advice on identification and treatment would be welcome.

    Thanks

    Majano anemone.

Act quickly. They can and will overrun a tank in the right conditions.

I noticed one in my tank and didnt think anything of it. A week later i literally had 6-7. I had to pull the rock's out and nuke them.

    +1 to evolved.
Its a shame since some of them can be pretty cool looking. Kill them tho.

Thanks for the info - glad I asked. They are spreading so I'll tackle them now.

Any advice on how best to get rid of them?

(Think they came in on a coral  )

Use a fire butane style lighter thingy if you can take it out for a few minutes.

Or, you can get some Kalwasser (Mrs Wards Pickling Lime) Mix a few cc's of really potent mix, and syringe/turkey baster right on it. That'll do it, and it won't mess up your water chemistry, unless of course you tank is REAL small.
