I started my 110 g... for which I had to wait for 4 months (live in Spain and things take time here.. so patience, patience, patience)...
Anyway. Just put some indonesian live rock in 2 days ago and can now see this white slime developing on top of the sand... what is this? Just bacteria buildup or should I clean it up?????
    PLEASE help!!

Hard to tell what it is....I have not run across the problem. But the current IS a concern if you are only running 600GPH (2200LPR). I am going to talk GPH here because that is what I am used to.

If you are going to run a very large seahorse tank, then you have what you need.....but if you are going to run a reef tank with softies and LPS corals, I would jack your flow up significantly. We usually talk about total turnover when we refer to current. With 600GPH in a 110 gallon tank, you are only at 6x turnover. Your mark, IMO, should be 50x. You are looking at about 5500GPH give or take to get in the ballpark.

Now....you have about 600 to start. You need about 5000 more. Look at the Hydor-Koralia powerheads. They are a great source of flow. The run of the mill Koralias come as:

    Koralia-nano: 240GPH
    Koralia-1: 400GPH
    Koralia-2: 600GPH
    Koralia-3: 850GPH
    Koralia-4: 1200GPH

Forgive me if the GPH is a bit off, I took it from memory......but it is close. In my 90g, I am running a 500GPH return, three K-3's and one K-4 for a total of 4250 or 47x turnover. If I were you, I would outfit your tank with one K-3's and three K-4's. You could even do four K-4's and be comfy.

Now.....getting the....wait.....you live in Spain. Oops. Almost gave you a listing for eBay here in the states. See what you can find, but I will send you the listing that I would have gone to in order to procure four K-4's at a very good price. $40 each is a GREAT price. Retail around here can top $100 each. So explore your options.

Good luck Sir. Your tank will clean up with time, but proper flow is of paramount importance and should be tended to.

I will keep you updated and see what I can get over here... like I said, it all just takes a long time... but that's part of the hobby, so I don't have a problem with that.
I am also still waiting for my skimmer and aquatronic controller but am hopeful that all will be in place beginning of the year :)
