dont chuck it out just yet Divott

they do on occasion expel all the fluids they have inside and look almost inside out - the skeleton can look expossed but it actually still has the skin covering it (the skin is very thin thats all)
they inflate again with new water

dont bin it unless you can see skin peeling, flapping about IMO

Mine has done this twice in 4 months now , but its perfectly alright the day after

Don't talk in front of it again that's for sure. In a way they can hear. They feel pressure changes in the water, so in theory they could feel sound waves.

Good luck with your bubble. Hope it perks up.

My bubble looks like hell sometimes. It deflates, skin is limp and skelton is visible (but not actual skeleton, flesh still attached), bubbles look like they're all popped and stringy, mouth opens some. Then a few hours later it opens up beautifully, softball sized, mouth closes, bubbles are inflated, and happy. Weird coral. I feed mine a small piece of raw shrimp once a week.

Can you back that up? The feeling pressure change part? I hadn't heard that before... Not saying you're wrong.

I can imagine they feel flow/currents and current changes but that's not the same thing as a pressure change...

so to feel sound waves... hrm... seems out there to me, but I don't actually have any idea...

    same here.

I'm not sure that I really mean pressure in that simple of a sense. When you move your hand towards some corals they will close up. This is because they feel the pressure of the wave of water moving in front of your hand. I would assume a sound wave would push, not as noticeably, some type of pressure wave. So technically that wouldn't being hearing as much as feeling the vibrations of your voice. Oh wait that is hearing lol.

    i have a similar story.

i just got the live rock in and it had this, for lack of better words, "dip can size" thing atacht to it and i looked at it and this hole so i was looking at it and i see this tiny thing poking in the whole, when i got close it shot back up, then it poke up a little, almost as if it was watching me back, then i got close and it shot water at me! then the holes closed. i about crapped my pants then laughed and i think its about the coolest thing in the world
