I currently have a 60g mixed reef with a 20g sump and 7g fuge. My nitrates and phosphates are always 0 and all other params are great. Its currently stocked with a Kole Tang, a halichoeres wrasse (biocellatus), a purple firefish, a pair of clowns, and a metallic shrimp goby. Could I add a one spot foxface?

I wouldn't. My foxface lived in a 65 gallon for a while and seemed to be doing ok, but he was really small. When he got to about 4 or5 inches he looked crammed and I moved him to my 180. He has seemed a lot more active and eats a lot better ever since.

If it is a small foxface you might be ok, and not quite overstocked, but as he gets bigger he will outgrow that tank and cause you to be overstocked with fish.

+1 everything I read says 70-75 or more. Foxface are real active & free swimming fix. With a kole & a foxface though I will said that would be one algae free tank! lol.

Really though, a 75g tank is only 3 inches wider and 2in taller. Does that really make a difference? honestly, do you think the fish would notice? Its the same length tank so I figured it would be ok, should I get one and then if he gets cramped I can move him out? Oh and a 65g is only 3ft long, thats why he was cramped. My tank is 48x15x18, a 75g is 48x18x20

I didnt google tank dimensions or anything. Just offering advice based on what I read & word of mouth. I have never owned a foxface. When people say 65's I think of the 3 ft ones.

You are right though they are very similiar dimensions. Having said with everything you listed I would say it would be ok if thats your complete stock list. The foxface, tang & wrasse are all very active swimmers & happy water space could get crowded when all are grown.

I don't see how a few inches would make a difference. I think people are just accustomed to go by the total gallons that they forget that the dimensions of a tank is what is important. I would say you are fine with one in the 60g. I have had a yellow tang in a 40 breeder for years now and has been doing nothing but great. I think with good husbandry and a well thought out plan it is possible for the fish to thrive.

this is true, but there is no way a 40 gallon tank could be possible for a tang to live in. tank husbandry is one thing. but its just not natural for it to have such little swimming room. it really restricts it. i think at least 60 gallon min for a yellow tang if not a 75

I think you got me confused with Brennan. I'm not planning on putting a fox face in my tank. I know that the tank is a bit small but he's healthly and is an active swimmer, doing well all together.
