I need to dip some frags that just came in the mail from a fellow reefer, and all I have in the house for dipping is lugols solution. I know it will be awesome for the zoas but what about the stylophora? (Or is it policapora). The frags are warming in the tank in bags right now so a speedy reply would rock.
Btw I dip zoas in 40 drops per gallon of dipping water for 8 minutes. If it is safe for SPS, is this the right solution and timing?
    Thank you as always,
    Helen

Thanks for the link! It looks like most people are using the tea-tree oil based dips like revive on SPS. I wish I lived closer to an LFS (my closest is 3 hours away) so I could pick some up. Well, I guess the SPS will just get a good visual inspection and the zoas will get a full-on lugols. Why chance it?

    Thank you,
    Helen

We'll crap. I opened the bags and they were supposed to be Stylphora, not Seriatopora. I feel ripped off. I agreed (happily) to buy 2 colonies of stylophora for $50 shipping. Turned out to be $100. I got 3 2" frags of green Seriatopora (I already have a colony) and a nice colony of zoas. He must have become remorseful about giving up the SPS colonies, which I wouldn't have wanted anyway. Since the misrepresented corals were "free" do I have a right to be angry? Am I too nice if I don't say anything?

Sorry, I meant 2 colonies I was supposed to get.

i recently ordered a bunch of zoas and got an acro frag and a blasto frag in place of 2 of the zoas. I decided not to complain since what i bought was a fraction of the cost of what i received. But had it been the other way around they would have heard about it.

That's why I exclusively pretty much trade all my corals, and actually buy very few- and that's from local reefers.

Do you have any local/regional reefer friends?

I feel really lucky that several local reefers close to me trade often and we often give frags away that they don't currently have, or me, etc.

    My local/regional is www.wireefsociety.com
