Can I drill this Tank?

    I am in the process of starting up a 29g tank and THIS is my tank.

    My question, It's Float glass, safe to drill? Never done it before so help with this would be great. what head would i use on the drill? i've heard about some diamond bit? :confused:

    Yes, normal float glass is what can be drilled - its tempered that causes issues.

    You will require a glass bit, google it and you will see the options - you will also need a lubricant. Just go slow and do not rush the job and youu will be ok.

    Remember, for the bean overflow system to be truly silent, they recommend using at least a 1.5" open channel pipe. The drain and emergency can be 1", but the open channel should be 1.5". For a 1.5" bulkhead, you will need a 2.5" hole.

    I have never cracked one. I dont want to be responsable for yours, but i clamp two blocks of wood to the tank. One block has a hole drilled the same size as the diamond bit. It guides and steadies the bit, and will keep the glass from flexing and cracking. Most oils and lubricants will work, i have even hooked a air line to a pump and let it water cool as i drill.
