What do you guys think? I'm 99% positive on the ID but wanted more eyes on it before I pulled the trigger

The tail fin doesn't look right to be the rhomboid...and I don't think the body is yellow/golden enough to be a juvi golden rhomboid. Also, if you look at juvenile pylei photos, they often have bright yellow on their faces like that. But I don't know!

What do you/the store think it is?! Tell us!

Damn, good call Hunter. I would have to say you are likely right after a bit or research.

It was a toss up with a rhom and pyles. I was hoping it was a female rhom but i think the consensus is a juvenile male pyles.

To top it off, it's aggressive which pyles have a reputation for. So aggressive that a mystery wrasse in the same tank (6x4) turns tail and runs every time it comes close to the pyles.

    Thanks for the help guys!

That's what sealed the deal. We couldn't see the spots until I photographed it. Upon comparing the pics with known examples of both species and talking with a lot of really knowledgeable guys it became clear that it wasn't a rhomboid.

Super fun searching and ID'ing it!
