I just did a water change and my water is really cloudy, but I can't say it is super clear any of the time and I can't figure out why so I would like to compare my pics to some of you experts out there and maybe we can determine this problem.

I am so confused because all of my tests are coming out to be correct yet my water is never ever as close to being as clear as a friend of mine's tank who as had his setup for a little over half a year.

What type of filtration do you use? Carbon is great for any saltwater tank, it can take out a lot of impurities in water than can make it cloudy.

Here's a pic of my tank from the side, it's a little older, but it represents the clarity well. My tank is a standard 55, 4" long.

I have a 20 gallon Wet/Dry Sump that flows into some carbon then through a filter pad then through a bio balls and finally through a rectangle sponge before coming back up into the tank.

The carbon I used is about a week or two old, should I put some new in?

Aww I'm sorry I brought it up. I didn't know and I hope your friend is ok. Again sorry...

I guess I'm going to start running some new carbon but when I rinse it off it comes off with black water. Do I keep rinsing untill that water runs clear?

Yeah, rinse it off until it's clear otherwise all of that dust just goes into your tank. If your finding that none of this works, you can try some Purigen. I put a small bag in my tank and it helped to clear things up a bit.
