I think you would have trouble getting even coverage on a 20L. You would end up with a pretty bad "disco effect" with the kit and you would just have illumination down the center 3rd of the tank with the spotlight. Would probably be okay for the 10 though.

Should be able to, but depends on the SPS a bit. I have 12 over a 6g and I can get into the 300 Par (SPS) range easily enough, although I don't have SPS at the moment, as the soft corals in the tank wouldn't appreciate the flow. There isn't really a way to localize flow, for specific corals in a small tank like that. I kept a small monti frag for a while, it survived, but it never did much.

ok i may or may not get sps. not sure yet. ill start out with lps and if they do good after about 3 months then ill decide if i want sps or not. if i do, ill choose not to get the softies since they cant tolerate the flow

LPS and softie flow requirements are about the same, although, there are some LPS that tolerate more flow. Although, these tend to have smaller polyps, closer to SPS size, but light requirements of these vary a lot and some of these actually don't tolerate light as well as other LPS. Others like more than typical LPS. Classifying corals by polyp size isn't really reliable. However, probably 80% of corals classified as LPS prefer soft coral levels of flow. Especially any that have big, "puffy" tissue.

I don't think Euphyllias would like tons of laminar flow. I think they would by better in moderate flow ;)

yea im gonna see if i can get it to where there is high flow across the top and low to moderate though the middle and bottom. shouldnt be too hard to do. and ill have sps on top if i get some and lps throughout the rest of the tank. can anyone recommend lighting for at sps (just in case i want to keep some) for a 20g long?
