Can I Have SPS with 4 bulb T5?

    Will they brown out and die or would they grow and but just look dull in color? Sorry I am only 9 months into this hobby so Im trying to get a grasp on things.

    Impossible to answer, since a lot depends on your tank. Bottom line is that it is not ideal unless you either upgrade the lighting or move the SPS higher.

    I don't know if I would make such a blanket statement like that.

    many times the PAR levels on t5ho only setups are higher on the sand than MH setups when comparing 24' tall tanks.


    I personally have seen PAR levels of 250 on the sand with a 6x80 t5ho retro on a 180g.

    my monti's are midway up, my acro is same, but dusnt have as good color and growth, but i have another acro the tip top and it has good growth and great color.

    Generally, IMO, you should be ok with montipora, either encrusting or branching. Other sps will likely grow, but you will probably not get great color, but that depends as mentioned. I would start with a monti digitata and see how that and see if it browns out or not.
