Can i keep a flame angelfish in a 20 gallon? There are 2 clownfish and a purple dotty would it be overcrowded? I'm wondering because the LFS said i would be able to. Thanks!

You probably could if the angel was small, but Really it will need more room I think. Might look a bit crowded though.

I was told minimum of 30 gallons, and even that is pushing it. The more room the better. So based on what I've been told, I'd say no.

dwarf angels are pretty active. they like to cruise the tank. Liveaquaria.com lists their min tank as 30 but i agree with KC that even that may not be enough room to "run". i have a coral beauty in a 50 with two clowns and a sixline and i think he gets a little cramped sometimes.

given your current stock i would say you'd definitely be overpopulating that tank.

I would'nt try it,the fish you already have are pretty teritorial and dwarf angels need room to roam and graze.Territorial battles could cause a lot of stress followed by disease.

What if i got rid of my blue damsel and got a 6 line wrasse. Then there would be 2 clowns a purple dottyback, and the 6 line. Would that be ok? There wouldnt be territory issues because i just moved the rocks today and could get the fish tomorrow.

IMHO i wouldnt put a flame angel in anything less than a 55 gallon if you are planning to keep it for a long time and it be happy. you may be ok with a 6 line but know those 4 fish in a 20 gallon may be stressed aswell as having a high bioload.

if you want more fish you might just need to upgrade your tank. ive realized this myself.

    goodluck.
