i have a 55g tank with PC compact lights and before you shoot me down i do have one thing. i bought a piece of lr which had a orange monticap coral on it and it grew fantastically form nothing to about 6 inches long. so i was wondering if i could have the same success if i put an acro pora in the same spot ?

Acros take more light than a monti cap. You may be able to keep a digitata, or some poccilopora though.

You might be able to do and acropora loripes. They are deep water acros. Very slow growers though.

I think you would be ok with 65w actinic bulbs. Just make sure to put the acropora high in the tank.

Keep it high and it should be OK.

I consider millipora on the slightly harder side... just above deepwater types and A. tenuis, so be careful with it!

Our ninty is pretty loaded with sps and lps. Its light has just been a power compact and we have seen growth in all colonies. Just keep your parameters in check.

+1 to everything else already said... Stick to the lower light SPS and you should be just fine.
