Disagree, I find acro to be aggressive, i have one in my tank (staghorn) and anything that has come in contact with it has shown visible and immediate signs of stress (predominatly a monti that fell on it)

Some acros are aggresive and others are not as much... Monti caps don't really "attack" other corals but use shade to fight them, my montis get overrun by other corals quite abit, a GSP colony is literally growing over a cap of mine.

In my tank I have many pieces that are either touching or about to and I will document who is the victor...

Certain corals such as hydnophora spp. will really go to town on other SPS so watch where you place those.

BUT in packs defense, SPS are nothing compared to the nematocysts of say Galaxea or ooluphyllia or other LPS...

Well, I don't really consider something that takes physical contact aggresive ;) You should try hydno sometime, anything withing 8 inches of it will be toast simply due to it releasing toxins ;) That was more of the point I was trying to make. Yes acro can cause damage if physical contact occurs. But thats not really the type of chemical warfare that can go on between corals that carbon will help prevent.

You might be a little light on flow for acropora as well, for SPS a lot of people use more like 40-50 times their tank volume for flow. You have under 3000gph I believe, which isn't bad, but you might find that the acros will like more in the 4500+ range.

SPS corals can reach out and touch their competitors with mesenterial filaments so sometimes careful placement/spacing doesn't prevent warfare.
