i dont have a sump and i have a 75g fowlr at the moment. im planning to add corals in the future. i have a canister filter running. what i wanted to know if i put Cheato in DT in a floating plastic hatchery will it spread out in the tank?
what about other kind of macro? can use any inside the DT without risking that they will take over the whole tank?

cheato won't take over your tank like caluerpa. the calcifying algae will probably grow slow.

I have it in my DT for a few month without any problems. You can just make a small drop in refugium to prevent it from swimming around.

You can always harvest it just like when it's in a sump.

I agree with the 'just harvest it' theory... it doesn't grow that fast as to be a problem me thinks... although I think i would rig a HOB filter and use it for cheto? I've seen a thread on 3 Reef somewhere for that.
