Probably not, browntrout. Most magnets are ferrous, and iron rusts. As far as I know, there are very few metals that can safely be used in a reef tank. Titanium is one. If there are others, I'm not aware of them.

I made a frag holder out of acrylic with my laser today.....and I wanted to glue one to the holder and put the other on th outside of the tank to hold it. Guess I will just use suction cups

Is there a method by which you can cut somewhat of a countersink into a thick piece of acrylic? You could possibly encase a small disk shaped magnet in epoxy and get away with it . . .

Better yet, maybe, stack 3 or 4 pieces of acrylic together after cutting a hole in 3 of them, and welding them together, dropping in a magnet, and sealing it in with epoxy, silicone, or some other watertite way?

Box it completly in acrylic or another acceptable material and use it through that....similiar to the mag float
