    Can i run a E ballast and a 150w radium bulb?

i purchased the radium bulb and it will not run on my sunpark ballast 120-MH150 SUNPARK 1-LAMP 120V BALLAST FOR 150W METAL HALIDE it flickers than it just started shutting down. so i pulled it and put the phoenix back in. i really dont like how blue the phoenix 14k bulb is.
Also are there any other bulbs that compare in color to the radium 150w 20K ? that maybe i could go that route? i dont have atinics so im depending on the halide for light and color. so the bulb has to be nice on its own. as the radium's are.

any help would be appreciated. i have been searching the web for pictures of different bulbs on tanks and its so hard to find

Don't know the Radium is made to run on a magnetic ballast. The e-ballast may be better, but is still an electronic ballast.
I would go with the Ushio 14000K or Iwasaki 14000K both are more of a crisp white than the Phoenix and have good par.

Also, could try the Giesemann Megachrome "Coral" (note: there is also a Megachrmome marine, which is a bit yellower) although, I think this, like the radium does better on a magnetic ballast as well.

do they have the slight blue tint that the radium has? do you use either? that i could see a tank picture with it on?

i dont want a noisy ballast so the magnetic ballast is out. and i dont want to waste more money on an e ballast if it wont run that radium bulb. that's 80 dollars sitting in the closet :( already....into the box of crap it goes...lol

I don't run either, but have seen them many times. I would call them a crisp white, with a touch of blue. I wouldn't call the Phoenix super blue though, although probably would call it borderline 20K, but it depends a lot on the ballast. Both are much whiter than the Phoenix though, but not yellow by any means.

As far as I know, there are very few electronic ballasts that will run radiums correctly. Sunlight Supply, IceCap, Lumatek.

It will likely be a long wait. Icecap shutdown their operations last December.

I know the dimmable ones are e-ballasts... not positive on their others. It is the dimmable one that I always see running the radiums.
