    Who runs filters on a salt water tank? Its just recommended you use a protein skimmer. You will be fine.

    Haha I saw 300 gallon with no filtration and I was like whoa.

    It's possible I will say, I ran my 55 with no filtration for about 2 months maybe... You have to do water changes religiously though and check your params

    Mechanical filtration is not necessary for salt water. Just live rock and water changes is all you have to have. After that, skimmers make it easier to do less water changes...

    "Filters" I assume you mean things like sponges and filter socks, etc. Are totally optional and in my opinion useless; or even detrimental if you don't service them often.

    I wouldn't say filter sock's are useless , especially on a fo tank they can help quite a bit as long as they are swapped out every few days.

    It depends on your bioload...but yes to the skimmer, no to the filter. I've been running my 40 gal for the last few weeks with no skimmer or filter...just a sump (5 gal pail since my real sump broke). Once I get my sump fixed I'll be running with the skimmer again.
