I was wanting to glue my PVC together. Luna, I am planning on using Miracle Mud in my fuge. How many lbs should I use for a 15 gallon fuge?

So the union is usually sold around the same place in lowes as the plumbing? Is it one piece that connects directly to the pump?

I used 4 of these which are 12lbs each

The union is in the plumbing section at most home improvement stores and come in a "slip" or "threaded" application. Slip needs PVC glue and the threaded model just needs some Teflon tape.

    Alright, sounds good.

Now when I connect to the pump I don't super glue right?

Remember that you cant make the return line to the return pump(RP) permanent. You will need to take out the RP from time to time to clean it. Thats why you need the union between the RP and the return line. Im thinking that maybe you should get someone to help you on this if your not comfortable with plumbing.

ha ha yeah sounds like I really need some.

Alright lets talk about something that is a little more understandable by me. I plan on using Mangroves in my fuge as well.

How are they acclimated? Also, do I just stick them straight into the mud? What light are you using for them?

I also see you are using bio balls. Any reason to use those over live rock?

    Claic,

Follow these general guide lines when working with PVC and gluing etc:

Threaded gets Teflon tape, wrap the tape in the direction of the threads (So when you screw the pieces together the tape doesn't unwind.

When working with un-threaded or slip pvc, use primer and glue, usually sold together in a 2 pack. and use in a ventilated area so you don't get cancer etc.

Never glue anything that you can see yourself ever, *ever* needing to take apart.

Right now on my return line, I only have about 4 parts glued, and they are couplings that allow me to thread plastic barbs to a T, since I'm running flexible tube instead of PVC to decrease head pressure.

    Thanks for the advice.

So its a lot easier to go with the threaded it seems like.

All I am wanting to do is run a tube going straight up from my fuge to the top of my tank then over and into the tank.

    Mangroves......read this
Everything you needed to know about Mangroves

I float them first, they will grow their roots into the mud. You need to look for daylight bulbs that are rated between 5500k-6500k. Im using 7100k right now. I have enough LR in my DT, the bio balls are just to have a different kind of surface for the bacteria to grow on.
