Okay, so I'm a compulsive tinkerer. I modded my last Tek fixture with lunar LED's (and plan to do the same with this one), but what about a fan??

It's only a 4x24, so the heat it generates is nothing like what my 8x54 generated, but still.

Would this be a worthwhile improvement, or just a solution in search of a problem??

Jon Manke, aka Hahnmeister modded a Tek wth fans years back and is supposedly the basis for the new Teks with fans coming out during MACNA... That is how the rumor goes. You wil have more PAR output if you add the fans, at least if you have them the right way.. I have seen some that cut fan holes in top, have one sucking in and one blowing out like most PC fixtures have... I have seen some that try to focus the cooling on the ballasts and others that try to keep the lamps cool similar to say the fans on a TX5. It would be worth the effort as long as you don't wreck your fixture.

I say go for it. I put 2 fans in my fixture and they cooled things down nicely. In summer, the more heat you can get rid of the better. In winter , leave the fans off.

I would keep the fans running year round, at least to cool the ballasts and lamps.
Optimal temp for most lamps is 77degrees F,

Im a firm believer that any type of lighting that runs cooler lasts longer, so I say go for it.
