Can i start the cycling process with no salt.
Will the bacteria i need start growing with no salt.
Just asking because i have to wait till next week to buy salt.there is about 5lbs of salt in the tank, but it is in a 75 gallon tank.

That is a double edge sword. Yes your tank will start to cycle without salt. BUT this would create freshwater bacteria and not saltwater bacteria. So once you add your salt that bacteria will die.

So in all actuality the answer is no.

Well, Diver...I do know people that don't run skimmers and they have good success......I however, cannot wrap my mind around that one! If you have ever cleaned a skimmer cup out, you would probably always run one! Plus, it was in John's sig that he had one so....

I am somewhat 'old school' with the skimmer ...I know. :D
