    Can I store saltwater?

For example: I go to the store once a month to buy 14g of water, 7g of which i will use that day and 7g in 2 weeks(water changes).

I'm not currently doing this, but am hoping I can once I have my tank ready.

    Thanks!

    You shouldn't have an issue.

Do you buy saltwater or fresh water and mix yourself?

I buy 10 gallons of fresh a week and mix 5 ga every week and top off with the other 5 ga. I just keep a lid on it while I store it and throw a power head in it for a couple of hours before my water change.

I story mine in a 20 gallon rubbermaid tote. I have a small powerhead on a timer that comes on for an hour each time 12x a day and a small 50w heater.
So yes you can store it. Just make sure your container blocks light and you don't cross contaminate or you'll start an algae farm in your storage container.

Great point. I have my lids marked so when I grab water I grab it from the right bucket.

If I can ask, why do you keep a heater in your water?

i too store my RO water in a 30gal rubbermade with a sealable lid that i mix salt into. i have a vent hold cut with black mesh that doesnt allow light in, a powerhead on a timer to mix up, and a heater to keep it at the same temp. without the heater my water drops to about 68-70degrees as its in my basement. the display tanks at 80degrees.

I have a 18 gallon rubbermaid tote, not a garbage can, but generally the same setup as everyone else. Powerhead, heater, pump to get water from it to the tank, air stone.
