so i just got some new bulbs for my tank. i thought they were the same as the old ones ie 55 watt 21 inch str8 pins pc t-5's so i got home opened the box and they are in fact t-6's. i have heard the red sea max t-5 arent really t-5's so will there be a problem? i tried one of the bulbs and it fires, bright as hell too. any helps would be appreciated.

All PCs to my knowledge are actually T6 lamps not T5... Thats where many people get goofed up. If the wattage is the same for CLOSE the ballast SHOULD support it... Of course depending on the ballast. A cheap PC ballast meant to only drive PCs will not really drive T5 even if it can handle the wattage... WH other end of the spectrum can run a multitude of different types of lamps.

    Hope that helps?!
