Can I use this shrimp?

For my 20g can I use this shrimp to cycle the tank?
White Shrimp
Frozen, cooked, tail off
INGREDIENTS: Shrimp, Salt, Sodium Phosphates.

 

no...go to a market and get RAW shrimp...fish markets, some grocery stores, and oriental markets usually sell FRESH RAW SHRIMP

 

just get 2-3 of the shrimp they have the little metal scoopers where you bag them yourself

 

Just get a Large or Jumbo deli shrimp (make sure it is not pink as that means it was cooked )

I would also suggest dropping it in some panty hose or a sock so you do not have to deal with "stinky floaters"

 

If u have other tanks you can even toss in a chunk of frozen krill or mysis too

 

I've never seen a store where you bagged your own shrimp!

I just used shrimp-sized piece of raw fish.
You can also just use fish food each day.

Just being redundant,

 

If it is uncooked you could use it but pre packaged uncooked shrimp probably has some form of preservative sprayed on it before packaging so I would avoid it.

Just go to the grocery store and ask for one shrimp, i have done that 3 times and had my wife do it once. Each time they just gave us the shrimp for no charge. Or have Cod one night and save a piece....

 

Or just use fish food...
