Getting ready to fill up sump tomorrow and I noticed that my return pump clamp (metal) the kind you screw and it tightens on threads will be submerged under the water in sump.. will this create rust or harm tank?

it will rust. I would get the plastic kind that you squeeze together to tighten.

I would not use metal hose clamps below the water line. Even marine grade stainless will rust. I agree on the plastic clamps, but I have not seen them at Lowes or HD. Either a LFS or a pool/spa store may have them.

+1...SW will corrode virtually any metal over time.

Buy some plastic zipties(electircal dept. at any Lowes or Home Depot) they work just as well as any clamp.(as long as you are using the proper size tubing);) Just buy a small bag of them in case you ever want to remove it.8)
