Hi, we're 5 months new to salt water and we have a 20 gallon reef tank. We finally decided to get a protein skimmer and ditch the filter and my husband just asked whether the skimmer can do such a good job that they remove the phyto feast and oyster feast that we feed daily? If so, should we only have it on overnight, or something along those lines? Tips would be great. Oh and we feed 10 drops of both 2x per day and we have 4 feather dusters, zoanthids, clove polyps, star polyps, button polyps, frog spawn, a candy cane and plenty of inverts (snails, shrimps, red legged hermits, a serpent star). We just bought a Remora Aqua C Maxi Jet 1200 hang on-skimmer 5 days ago. Thanks:)

yes it will remove the phyto. but if you feed daily you shouldn't have a problem. the phyto that you does is dead so it would just polute your water.

Well, you really do not need to feed that much. Once or twice a week is sufficient. If the skimmer is a hang on (pump in tank) turn it off when you feed and leave it off for 20 min. or so.
