thanks all for your support! Curt (Inwall) has talked me down! LOL.....
I do have one bit of good news! I found my mystery wrasse that was missing! He was hiding out in my overflow! We had a good laugh with this.....we pumped some water into the overflow after we turned everything off to try to catch him. I grabbed him with my hand and in the excitement....we forgot to turn the pump off! So, we kept pumping water into the overflow and flooded the sump!

I am taking my sea apple and my psychedlic cucumber to the LFS in am just to be safe! Not sure when we will be able to repair the leak (or leaks) as work has been so very busy and have been working until 9ish every night. We are short and I can not take off. I do have a very large lava chalice that I am not sure what to do with! The LFS that has offered to take it I am very afraid to bring that piece to them....I know they are infested wtih flatworms and red bugs.... Might see if my friend who has her tank up will be willing to keep it. I only have 3 fish in the tank, so the o2 demand is not all that great....

To look on the bright side.....I have been needing to replumb the system, and guess now I am being forced to!

thanks again for all the support!

we have had to top off the tank 2x already so far as it has dipped below the powerheads that I have in the tank. It is a 6foot tank. We marked the water level and within a half an hour we lost about half an inch!

I have water brewing downstairs and have a 40g empty tank that I am going to set up tomorrow and transfer the coral over. I will just run some powerheads for the corals. I have some other tanks set up that I can move the fish to tomorrow. I am going to see if my work will allow me to work at home after going in a couple hours tomorrow. Unfortunatly we are down 3 people right now so I can not call in....but hopefully with the overtime (i am salaried) that I am working they will allow me to work at home in the afternoon. I will then at least set up the 40g for the corals

From what I can tell the leak is at the bottom of the tank somewhere, which in my opinion is the worst possible case scenerio. I think there are several leaks.... All the silicone that I can see appears to be ok and I am careful at not scraping the silicone when I clean......I am afraid to see where the leaks are.......and really fear that the tank is beyond repair!

That is some horrible luck and I feel very bad for you! I'm glad Curt is there to give you a hand and lend some emotional support! Seems you have found a little silver lining when you found your wrasse.

well update from this morning....the leaking from my upstairs neighbors bathroom has stopped....got water damage all the way into my bedroom!

I estimate that overnight over 60g of water leaked out.....so I am thinking that over 130g water total is on my floor and in my basement...thank God I live on the first floor! All my Christmas decorations and other junk in the basement is ruined.....I needed to clean that stuff out anyway!

I pray that my boss will let me work from home this afternoon. I have to go onsite for a couple hours as there is no other way....we are already down 3 people out of a team of 7. But planning on taking some of my corals to the lfs store today. This is going to be a long, long process! Going to fix all the plumbing problems while we are at it

Photograph and document the pipe leak damage etc...call your landlord and start asking about what their insurance covers...chase down all possibilities!

find out if the upstairs folks carry renter's insurance - gotta believe they may have sustained some damage too. If you have renter's insurance it should cover this.

i am so sorry this happened to you. I am crossing my fingers for you.

You do not need Noah, you need HazMat given what I suspect was ground into your carpet. ugh!

    Hang in there.

Frankly, the thing that saved Melissa was that she had an emergency 40g trash can in her basement filled with heated/pre-mixed saltwater. We just pumped that upstairs into her tank to keep the corals underwater. It would have been nicer to have 80 gallons but at least everything is underwater and alive.

I'm working at Marine Solutions today and I have enough gas cans for 25 gallons of water which I'll pick up there. The RO/DI water ran to fill the trash cans last night. I'll pick up a bucket of salt too and that water will be heated and fully aerated so the salt should dissolve quickly. (Employee discounts really help out at a time like this).

She has condo insurance. It's required by the mortgage company. I talked with her neighbors upstairs....VERY GOOD NEWS. The leak was from a pipe SO IT IS CLEAN WATER as opposed to sewage. (I was worried that's why the dog was sick). It's still a mess though. Enough water leaked into her bathroom that her own bathroom flooded and leaked into her basement.

The people who plumbed this wrong the first time really screwed it up. (Amazingly, it was a LFS that I used to be a partner in. Neither R nor S were good at plumbing when I was there and clearly they didn't learn it after I left::)). The overflows were rated for 600 GPH each. However, they "T"ed both one inch drains together into a 3/4" drain to the sump and there was so much back pressure that when you kill the power, it takes several minutes for the overflows to drain. In fact, in most people's overflows, water goes through the gate and drops an inch or two Oxygenating the water. In this tank because of the above, the water level in the overflows is exactly equal to the water level in the tank. This plumbing mistake also necessitated a smaller return pump than one would normally use for a 135 that has 2 overflows. One thing they did smart was install a waterchange port so one can just turn a ball valve and drain water out instead of sucking on a hose. The way they made that smart thing stupid was putting that junction in a place where one can't get to it.
