well I just called my homeowners insurance and left a message for to find out if this is going to be covered by my insurance.....I will find out soon enough if they will allow it! I know I have to get new carpet in the living room and pretty much figure that anything in the basement is going to be lost! I am pretty sure that the water damage from the br is going to have to go through my neighbors insurance...but asked about that also!

Sounds like things are coming together somewhat. You have great help in Kurt and have a game plan to handle things. Things should start improving quickly soon.

When my fiance and I rented a house and lived there for like 5 years, we had 3 floods. The worst was 2008. Fema showed up. I had to carry Danielle to the car so she wouldn't get water and mud (and other nasty stuff) on her suits and dresses.

When we were able to buy our own house, we found one on a hill, away from flooding issues.

Granted, this is not your type of flood, but usually when people mention a flood, this is why. I guess maybe you might not want to have neighbors above you in the future as well;)

I feel sorry for anyone going through the issues of a flood. Hopefully you can get through it with as little damage and monetary loss as possible.

well got the tank drained all the way and have the rocks (will have) in rubbermaid containers with powerheads. I have all my corals and fish in 40g tank that i just sat up. So far everything seems to be doing ok...still worried about 3 main pieces of coral and my mystery wrasse in particular.

We filled the tank all the way to the top Tuesday night around 11pm, by 3pm yesterday the tank was all the way down to almost 1/4 water left.

I could not see an obvious point of leakage even when i took everything out. it is somewhere on the bottom part though because it was still leaking with only 1/4 water left. It was strange, it would leak as drips then all the sudden would be a stream then shooting stream out, then back to a drip? Now the fun part of trying to find the leak....Curt says we will use methylne blue and see it.

I have some possible other fixes of my own....have talked to 2 seperate LFS to see if they would consider a trade for a new tank. I offered up Goldie:(, my show niger trigger and my large huma huma. I even threw in a large frag of my lava chalice...... so if resealing it doesnt work I might have an option for a new tank. I was told that they no longer make 135g but 125 and 150 only. They said a 150 would fit my stand and one LFS owner I was speaking to was interested and threw out the 150g option to me.....so dont know! I dont want to get rid of my FOWLR tank but if i have to I will.

We rented a commercial grade water exctractor and have been sucking up water. It does really well and even though it will take several days to do it, i am happy about that. I pulls water down even through the pad!

To be real honest, I am tossing the idea around of just taking this tank down! If we cant get it resealed I think I am done. I enjoy the hobby immensly but right now is just not a good time for me financially for all this to go on! I am not going to do anything rash right now, i am just frustrated, but that is in the back of my mind

Take care of your finances first then decide to get back after all the dust (hopefully no mud) settles.

well im glad you're able to get the water out with the extractor. i just caught up on the thread, and i must say... DANG!

glad that you have some close by help to keep you somewhat sane through this crazy process.

keep your head up! and remember, dont make a rash decision on the tank. though you have a leaky bucket right now, it is fixable, and you already have so much invested both mentally and out of pocket that it might not be worth ditching. im sure you find yourself starring off at the tank from time to time. its therapeutic :)

It ain't gonna happen because I won't let her. As you've said, it's fixable. So we'll fix it. While I'm at it, I'm going to fix the plumbing that was messed up from day one, and she can then build it up bigger and better than it was before.

I've resealed smaller tanks. I've never done one as big as a 135 (more water volume = more pressure) so I'm going to have to do some research to see if it's done differently. However, the phoenix will arise from it's ashes yet again.

Drop Roger a line if you want to Curt. He's got a ton of experience resealing tanks and may be able to help you get it done.

you're a good man! has the leak itself been sourced to an issue with the silicone or with the glass itself? bulkhead leak?

    I will do that Amcarrig.

I don't know yet. Yesterday was all about getting the corals, fish, LR, etc. into other tanks and getting all of the sand out. Today is dedicated to getting the water out of the carpet so it doesn't mold and mildew. Tomorrow, I'll find the leak.

She had a pistol or mantis. She put a couple of her real large LR pieces in her predator tank. I just heard a loud noise and both triggers and the puffer ran to the source of the noise. Now we'll never know if it was a pistol or a mantis that was in her reef tank. (Not that she cared. It never bothered anything).
