aww man! I had a mantis/pistol! If i knew it was in the rocks I would have never ever put it in Goldies tank! I would have loved to have one again! I tried to search all the rocks the best I could but I did wind up just grabbing and tossing a lot of them towards the end. Before I had the fish out I was really careful, esp trying to find the mystery! I picked up one rock and my midas blenny jumped on the floor, he had himself all shoved up in a hole!

I did find the monster crab that was eating my corals and Goldie (or the niger) had a great meal! It grabbed a hold of me when I was removing the rocks so I took it into the FOWLR tank and tossed him in there...it was the size of a half dollar! The niger and Goldie both swam directly to eat him and he did pinch the niger in the mouth....lol!

While Curt is fixing the leak (thanks again) I am going to get some acrylic rods and make some cool rock formations for the tank. I have some really cool pieces of rock IMO that would make a cool layout!

I am feeling a little better...I just worry about my corals and fish...they ahve good flow and filtration in the tank so it should be good. I am very lucky to have Curt there to help me....it was a big big mess (still is)

I cannot believe how far this water spread into the carpet. The guy said to run the water extractor (basically, an industrial carpet shampooer) every couple of hours. He was right. You can suck up the water until none is visibly running through the tube. However, if you wait a couple of hours, the water is back. This monster machine is definitely doing a number on my back. It's not a little machine like a Rug Doctor from the grocery store. On the other hand, this guy will suck up water all the way down to the carpet pad.

Well there be issues with salt being left behind in the carpet?

Er, I dunno about issues, but there'll be an advantage to it. Mold won't want to grow on a salty area.

Yes, there will be. Once it finally dries out it will leave a salt-ring. Then right after it's finally dried out again, you have to shampoo it a couple of times making it wet again. Sounds counterintuitive doesn't it???

we are still pulling water up from the carpet. It is amazing, you think is fairly dry but then run the extractor again and more water comes out! We have been concentrating on the upstairs, last night went to the basement and man....it stinks! I am not worried about it because it is unfinished and once everything settles down will go down there and toss everything! The entire house reaks. I think today I am going to go ahead and start shampooing and add some odoban to the mix! We both are very congested and have really bad sinus headaches.....I know we have bad mold starting already!

I started working on trying to do the rockscape.....I suck at that. I have fantastic ideas in my head but it doesnt work out. Curt told me to cut out a pattern of the tank so I can have a better idea of the size of the tank and even with it being 135g it seems so small when you start working with the rock.

We have not started working on figuring out where the leak is but the livestock seems to be doing ok. The mystery wrasse is out in the open more and the corals seem to still be doing ok I pray that all stays well! The bellus and the midas blenny I am a little more worried about, they are still very stressed but I think they will be fine

Wow, I just read through the whole thread. This is horrible! :( I hope this never happens to you again (or anyone for that matter.)

Luckily things are getting better. Or seem to be at least. I hope the best for you.

well not much to report yet...we are still trying to get the water up from the floor and shampooing the carpet. I have probably 200 pounds of LR in tubs in my kitchen with powerheads and skimmer on it. I have all the sand in buckets and we will be rinsing it off very good before putting it back in....my fish and corals are doing fine...I think I lost 1 fish my midas blenny as I have not seen him. He was stressed when i moved him...we had the power off the big tank for 12 hours at first and had powerheads running...well he was so limp by then that he allowed me to pick him up by hand and move him. My bellus and mystery are doing awesome!

Will start working on the tank tomorrow I guess....getting all the supplies needed to do it right now! Still a very very long process to go

not much progress on the tank to tell you about.....we havent had the opportunity to work on the tank due to our schedules, and not sure when we will.

I am still tossing the idea of not putting the tank back up! I have a FOWLR predator tank that I can turn all my attention to and thinking about transforming my cube back into a mantis tank. I have to admit it is nice to walk into my house and it not be 100 degrees because of the lights (to top everything off my a/c is going out!) and there is an eeriee quiteness of not having the water running all the time!

I think the longer it is down the more panicky I am getting that it is just going to leak again! I think Curt figured out why it leaked, the stupid LFS store sold me a marineland stand with an AGA tank and instead of fitting into the stand, it is sitting on top of the edge of the stand! If I only knew then what I know now....not sure I would have ever gone into a big tank!
