Most pumps do quiet down after break in.

Their is a problem, had to be because before in the middle compartment you see their were loads of suds and bubbles but now it just looks like no bubbles at all really. Could I have broke something turning it on and off?

I doubt you broke it by turning it off... try making the level in your sump higher. With my octopus, if its not at about 10 inches it doesnt skim as well... if its less than 8 then it doesnt skim.

It is not skimming at all now, I had my ffriend come over and we tried everything and nothing is working...I guess I am going to have to send it back?

Do you have to use the venturi?

It has a built in venturi. Where the pipe comes in to the skimmer, it is forced downward through a nozzle. The nozzle makes it a high pressure stream. This stream hits the water below the nozzle drawing bubbles into the skimmer.

Check the nozzle for debris. The small white screw is removable. Make sure to turn it off first>>>> then take your bottle brush and push it through the screw hole down through the nozzle.

    See if that helps.

I tried with no success...it was working before all I did was adjust the cup and then turn it on and now nothing...

This really isn't making sense...What should I do for now.

So, I just got back from his place and it is not the normal break in scenario. The problem is NO microubbles are being produced. Just large 1cm bubbles. We tried lowering and raising the pump, turning the white dial in that bend, changing the water level, and I opened the pump to see if there was anything on that end. I found nothing. He will be calling the company about it. Even when a skimmer is breaking in it produces microbubbles. This one isn't user error. I think something came lose or he accidentally did something so minute you wouldn't remember it. I am sure that when he speaks with the company they can better help him. I told him to leave it running all night without the cup on and see what it is like in the AM.

That is odd. Maybe part of the venturi broke off. It's got me stumped. They are usually rock solid skimmers.

The way I see it is the sell a lot of these skimmers. Atleast a few are bound to have issues w/ parts. The odds say something will be wrong with some.
