We just noticed this in our tank the other night. Not sure what type of anemone it is. It appears that the two are different species. Any input is appreciated.

I think Majano at the front and Aiptasia towards the back

you dont want either (If my ID is correct)

removal options as tried by many sufferers - they propogate quickly and sting severely

1 - inject with boiling water
    2 - inject with vinegar
3 - inject with lemon juice
4 - Buy and inject Joes Juice
5- Buy and inject Aiptasia X

+1 on that! you don't want that stuff to spread through out your tank.

The first one doesnt look like Majano to me. They dont have rounded tips as this one does. The other one could be either Majano or Aiptasia. Luna

Got to thinking about Lunatik's reply on this thread
when people post questions involving small nem type species
its often the safe bet to ID Majano or Aiptasia - you can even use google images and find other Majano nems that look just like the one in the posters question ( but what if the photo ID is wrong?)

I have fallen into the trap of following , rather than thinking for myself

here is my new thought on this

if you have this one nem, and it stays where it is and is not bothering anything - leave it

if one day you have 2 or more of these nems - deal with them as if they are majano or aiptasia

Lunatik got me thinking that I might be sentencing creatures to their doom
without 1st ensuring they where pests!
