    The reason why they are so cheap is because they are made in china "knock offs".

    I have 2 friends that have the 6 ft mh fixture and it works pretty good. it's pretty good at dissipating heat too

    heck think im going to order the 48" MH fixture, compared to the coralife with the same stats it's less than 1/2 the price knockoff or not i can buy that fixture and put nice bulbs in it for alot less

    The downside to the MH's is the ballast isnt as good and needs to be replaced fairly soon or you will not get proper color temps out of your bulbs. Even a 20,000K will look yellowish.

    geek so on the T5-ho 24" /2 lamp aquarium Light the ballast would have to be replace first?

    I'm also curious. Would the ballast need to be replaced on those T5's to get proper colors, etc?

    I was refering to the MH ballasts throwing off colors. Not the T5HO's.


    The T5HO should be ok, though I was given one of the 4x54w T5HO setups that was used for about 6 months and Ive used it for about 6-9 months and one of the ballasts is making a noise like its going out (humming/electrical sound). The brand is Odyssea from china. Samething you buy from Hommby and Aquatraders. The one I was given came from Aquatraders.

    T-5 HO bulbs dont apply to the watts per gallon scale because of the high output and intensity. so how would you rate 4x24w 10k bulbs?
