Can u leave the glass on top of your tank?

    Can u mount the led fixture and leave the glass on top of your tank or do u have to remove the glass and have nothing in between the lighting fixture and the water...thanks

    As long as the fixture is on legs it should be fine. Leaving the glass on can reduce the light reaching the tank by as much as 20%.

    I wouldnt keep the glass on there.. I would just got buy some screen and get a frame and put on the tank.

    It depends on the fixture. Some are 'designed' for use on covered tanks only.

    So I shouldn't think of keeping the glass on top them...won't the water evaporate like crazy...I'm switching to reef from a salt water aquarium...sounds like a big change

    yeah you'll evap quicker, but you'll also have a much better gas exchange and more light will make it to the tank! you'll have to top off more, but you also won't have to clean that glass every other day!
